The Society would like to thanks all our sponsors for 2020/21 season
Calling all photographers! The club is looking for new members! You know you enjoy taking photos, whether with camera or phone.
So would you like to think about joining the club? Maybe you would be interested in practical demonstrations to develop new skills ? Or perhaps you’re already an enthusiast and looking for inspiration for your shots? Or maybe the social side is most important, meeting new people, making new friends, learning from others or passing on the skills you have.
We can offer you all of this, so please do come and try us out. All meetings are open to the public (£2 entry fee) and all will be given a very warm welcome.
The venue for our meetings is at the
St. JOHN AMBULANCE BUILDING, off Glencrutchery Rd.
All meetings will start at 19:00hrs. It is spectacularly well-appointed and modern, with excellent facilities, comfortable chairs, and on-site parking with overflow spaces at the adjacent gym.
As part of the Covid protection measures, there will be hand sanitiser at the entrance, and you will be required to add your name, and the time you arrive, and leave, to a list, at the beginning and end of each meeting.
We have practical evenings, demos about how to use your camera, how to understand what settings on the camera to use for various conditions and subjects, like landscapes, insects, portraits, how to make images better using Photoshop, how to do quirky things like capturing an ice cube dropped into a glass of water. We also have presentations of work by members and guest speakers.
That will be the time when members learn from others, and become inspired to improve their own work. Although entering the competitions is encouraged, there is no compulsion. We have some members who never or very rarely enter, but still get a lot of enjoyment from the meetings.
We have two groups of members, Intermediate and Advanced, for competition purposes, so that no-one needs to feel that they are out of their depth.
More details of the Programme are available under the Programme tab here on our website .
