The judge for the evening was John Keelan who delivered some excellent narrative on each image he’d been presented with, providing all the entrants and members with insight, and understanding of what judges look for in a photograph.
The competition commenced with Mono prints of which there were 8 entries with the winner being Martin Sanderson with a water level view of an old harbour boat entitled ‘Rust in Peace’.
Next up was the Colour prints section, again there were 8 entries with Martin Sanderson once again taking the honours with a stunning image of a Pipit, simply entitled ‘Pipit’.
The DPI section was next with 13 images in total, commencing with the Colour DPI’s. The winner of this section was Sue Blythe with an early morning image of two fishermen entitled ‘Inle Lake at Dawn’.
The last but by no means least was the Mono DPI section with 12 images presented to the judge. Once again Sue Blythe took the honours with an image of a Myanmar fisherman casting a purse seine net, entitled ‘Myanmar Fisherman’.
The quality of the images presented were in the main evenly matched with the following members receiving additional commendations from the judge.
The judges overall winner of the evening was Sue Blythe’s ‘Inle Lake at Dawn’.

The next meeting will be held on the 23rd of February where we will be watching the Rhondda battle that included entries from the club, which was judged by Leo Rich. All are welcome to attend and for non-members there is a modest entry fee, all meetings are held on Wednesday evenings at St John Ambulance HQ on Glencrutchery Road, starting at 7:00pm, full programme details can be found on our website www.iomps.com.
