It seems like only yesterday that we applauded the Society’s successes at the end of year’s awards presentations, but time waits for no-one, as we now turn our attention to the 2026/2027 programme which will begin, earlier this time, on Wednesday, 23rd September, 2026 at 7.00 pm at the St John Ambulance HQ (off Glencrutchery Road) - our venue for the year ahead.
The new programme will begin with the usual welcome presentation for all of the newer members at which they will be excited to learn about what lies ahead at the Wednesday evening meetings of the Society throughout the winter and spring months. There will also be an opportunity for members to discuss the various elements in the new programme and learn about what can be expected.
One of the guest highlights of the winter, undoubtedly, will be local historian Charles Guard, who is always a fascinating watch.
For those of us, including the writer, who remain mystified be the latest hand-held technologies, we have a treat in store with a zoom presentation on how to take better photographs with a smartphone.
Member Sean Corlett, a highly proficient photographer, has kindly offered to present an evening sharing his Photographic Journey.
There will be a new Alphabet Challenge where members will be allocated two letters of the alphabet and have to capture images relating to those letters.
Included in a wonderfully devised and packed Programme, there will also be the usual competitions for digital and print entries and also Inter Club competitions, the mobile phone and Nature competitions.
Society member and keen photographer, Martin Sanderson will present an evening talking about his particular style of photography.
There will be practical evenings on various topics and the opportunity to view the images from the summer challenges "At the Beach" and "The Rising and Setting Sun".
